ABOUT ME

I am Dr. Mazumder, an anthropologist deeply passionate about studying the evolution of behavior through primates to gain insights into early hominin records. I hold an M.Sc. and M.Phil. from the Department of Anthropology at the University of Delhi, India. My journey has taken me through valuable experiences as an intern and research fellow at NHRC India, WWF India, SAI, CDRI, and even a Fulbright fellowship at the University of California, Davis. My extensive research covers areas like social anthropology, molecular anthropology, sports anthropometry, conservation biology, pharmacology, and primatology.

After completing my Ph.D., I worked at the Indian Council of Medical Research (Hq.) as a Clinical Research Associate in a Phase III Vaccine Trial. My Ph.D. research led me to conduct comprehensive studies on long-tailed macaques in India, significantly advancing the country's field of primate archaeology. I've delved into understanding the social, demographic, and ecological factors that influence the global distribution of tools and technology among primates.

I pursued my doctoral studies at IISER Mohali and am currently a post-doctoral fellow at IISc Bangalore. My postdoctoral research is focused on developing theoretical models to better understand the human aspects of wildlife management. I aim to gain insights into the factors driving human-wildlife conflicts and devise effective strategies to combat it. My recent publications underscore my enthusiastic interest in the study of behavior evolution, conservation, and cognition.
